I know it's been a long time since I've updated..and I sincerely apologize. The idea of writing really upsets me lately as I feel I've lost a lot of interest in Fantasy Novels. I have a difficult time sitting down and reading let alone trying to write my own story and although I'm nearly finished my book, I don't know that I'll finish it this year let alone the next. My deepest apologies for stringing people along with the story of Layora. Hopefully one day I will finish it and update this blog, but for now I'm going to let it be. Who knows, maybe a week from now I'll be all revved up and finish it. But right now I just don't feel that it's going to happen, so I'm putting this blog on the back burner. I'm sorry. <3 Thank you for reading and I hope you will all understand.

Slacking Off
Hello all, thank you for bearing with me on the latest part of my story. I've been slacking off lately, I know. I've not been in the mood to write but I hope that will change soon. As for right now, I'm working on updating the way my blog looks to better accommodate my readers. Right now I don't think it's a great way to display my story so I will do my best to alter this. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. Stay safe and stay warm.

Page 100..
Page 100..I can't believe it. I just finished writing page 100 of my untitled novel. It's size 10 font and single spaced..so you can imagine..it's currently 48,250 words. I'm so proud of myself, haha. I know that's silly of me to say, but I am. I can actually see an end to the story and although it's still far off, I know that it's possible for me to actually finish something. So I just thought I'd share my little achievement with my readers and thank you all for following my story. <3 I hope you're enjoying the read and I love feedback and criticism, so fire away! ^_^
Thanks for reading. <3

Lost and Found
So, I came across something today..and I just about died when I saw it. I have a portable USB Drive that I had tucked away and forgotten about and this morning while at work, (yes I'm blogging while at work..it's quiet today-haha) I happened across it in my pencil case. So I popped it into the computer to check it out and lo' and behold! All of my high school English essays, Writer's Craft assignments, and the first story I ever typed up were now filling my screen. I couldn't open them fast enough. For this one story, I had finally managed to type up, I thought I had lost. I used to write everything by hand and this was a huge step for me to put it onto the computer. Sadly, when my first laptop went through some technical issues, I took it into Future Shop and they neglected to tell me that I may lose everything on the hard-drive if I turned it over to them to be fixed.
I was devastated, to say the least. I had lost 20+ pages of tiny 10 font print of my story that I had labelled, 'Dreadfully Beautiful.' Finding it this morning was so fantastic, I don't even know what to say..other than it needs some serious editing and revising. But I'm so happy I found it, because this was a story I was very proud of and hope to finish it in the future. I know I haven't posted anything recently in regards to my other story, but it's coming along. So don't worry, there will be another update very soon. Thanks for reading, I just got so excited about my little discovery and I had to tell someone. ^_^

Oh University..
I had a conversation with my Mum the other day about my writing and reading habits and we got onto the topic of my 'journey' through University. I honestly believe that going to school for something that I loved was a huge mistake and although I do not believe this to be true for everyone who goes to school for something they love, it was in my case. I lost all of my desire to read for fun because I was reading upwards of 5 novels a week..and we're not talking about short 100-200 page novels..oh no..we're talking 400-1000 page novels. Not only had I lost my desire to read for my enjoyment, everything I did read, I was analyzing to pieces..something I am only now able to dismiss somewhat as I'm reading.
As a teenager, I wrote all the time. I was inspired by the Lord of the Rings novels and films and they really made an impression on me. But as University got under way..I stopped writing. I was writing my essays and things like that, but I could not write creatively anymore. I was devastated by the lack of creativity I had left and I wasn't sure if I was ever going to get it back. For about five and a half years..I stopped writing my stories and it really affected me negatively. In the last year I've been trying to write more but up until about six months ago I found it nearly impossible to sit and try and come up with something interesting. Even reading has been a huge struggle for me.
Where I used to spend upwards of 4 hours a day just reading, never setting a book down, I went to barely being able to keep my nose in one for more than ten minutes at a time. I would become anxious and get frustrated and just put the book down, giving up. It was definitely very upsetting for me and it took me a long time to overcome that. Now I can sit and read like I used to and write like I used to, mind you, with a bit more skill and a stronger subject matter. My writing has definitely changed over the years and I suppose I do have University to thank for this, but my experiences too have really helped me along as well.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this with whomever would like to read it. I guess it was weighing on me after having it brought up in conversation. But I'm slowly becoming more confident in my abilities and my strengths as a writer and I hope I am able to convey those skills through my stories. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I hope you're enjoying my story.

An Introduction
Hello and welcome to my Blog. Writing in Progress is a space for me to start getting my work 'out there.' I have a passion for both reading and writing and those who are close to me have always supported my dreams to become a writer. I don't think I can call myself a real writer, as I've never successfully published anything, but I hope to change that in the future. This Blog is for me to start putting my work online and if there are readers out there who are interested in the things I write about, I look forward to hearing from all of them.
Be critical, give me feedback and suggestions, because they will ultimately help me become a better writer. So enjoy perusing through my pages and tell me what you think. It'll be a slow start getting my work posted, but a little bit at a time should do i
